Emergency Dental Care

When something goes wrong, we are here. Call us for same-day urgent care.

Same-Day Emergency Appointments

At South Austin Dental, we reserve time in our schedule for urgent situations and do our best to see emergency patients the same day. If you are experiencing a dental emergency, call us at (512) 441-8922.

Common Dental Emergencies

Severe Toothache

A sudden, intense toothache can indicate infection, a cracked tooth, or advanced decay. Rinse your mouth gently with warm water and call us immediately. Avoid placing aspirin directly on the gums, as this can cause tissue damage.

Knocked-Out Tooth

If a tooth is completely knocked out, handle it only by the crown (the visible part). Never touch the root. If possible, gently place the tooth back into the socket. If that is not possible, keep it moist in a glass of milk or saliva. Time is critical, so call us immediately for the highest chance of saving the tooth.

Broken or Cracked Tooth

Rinse your mouth with warm water to keep the area clean. Apply a cold compress to the outside of your cheek to manage swelling. Save any tooth fragments if possible and call us to schedule an urgent visit so we can evaluate the damage and recommend treatment.

Lost Filling or Crown

If a filling or crown comes loose or falls out, keep the restoration if you can find it. Avoid chewing on that side of your mouth and call us to schedule a repair. In the meantime, you can apply a small amount of dental cement or sugar-free gum to the area as a temporary measure.
